El Paseo Arts Announces Auditions for
“The Bold, The Young, and The Murdered”
If you enjoy soap operas, murder mysteries or comedies, auditions for “The Bold, the Young and The Murdered” are perfect for you. Auditions for the April 23rd -25th show will be held on Wednesday March 9
th and 10th at 6:30 p.m., at the Padre Sunset Club. An afternoon audition will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 2:30 p.m., at the Padre Sunset Club. With a cast of thirteen, five men and eight women, this show has parts for all age groups and personality types.
“The Bold, the Young and the Murdered” is a comedy/mystery that pokes fun at the actors on TV soaps. It is also a murder mystery with an ending that will surprise even the best mystery sleuths. The play is about a long-running soap opera, “The Bold and the Young”. The soap’s ratings are in the cellar and its cancellation appears imminent. On top of that, all the cast members are fighting with one another and with the director. The hunky hero has self-esteem issues; its villainous old man is more interested in soup than in the soap; and its heroines are slightly psychopathic. The executive producer gives the squabbling cast an ultimatum; complete one episode overnight or the show and the actors’ careers die. But when the director is murdered and other cast members start dropping like flies, it seems like the show is literally being killed off. Will the cast of misfits manage to discover the murderer before they all meet an untimely end? As a parody of maudlin soap operas, the entire play can be summed up pithily as “it’s so bad it’s good – and it’s oh so funny!
El Paseo Arts invites you to be part of the fun and audition for one of the zany characters. You can also play a valuable role in the show as a member of the back stage team. So tap into your creative spirit and give the auditions a tryout. Even if you just attend to listen, it will be fun. If you want to audition but can’t make it to one of the scheduled sessions, contact JoAnn Evans at 956-572-5730.
